Below you’ll find some frequently asked questions we receive about our Powell River fishing charters.

Q. What Should I Bring For My Charter Trip?

A. We suggest that you bring appropriate clothing for the weather conditions of the current season. Please pack a lunch, beverages, sunscreen, and a up to date fishing licence. If you have any health conditions please let us know before the date of your charter so we can take the necessary precautions to make sure you enjoy your day stress free.  .

 

Q. How should I dress??

A. Dress appropriately for the weather season on the date of your charter. It is also a good idea to pack warm clothes no matter the forecast in case of a sudden change while we are out on the water.

 

Q. Do You Provide Rain Gear?

A. We currently do not offer rain gear included in your charter. If you are visiting and need to purchase rain gear we have numerous suggestions we can give upon request.

 

Q. Do I need to bring my own food and drink?

A. Yes, please pack your own lunch and drink for your trip.

 

Q. Do I need a fishing license?

A. Yes! You can acquire a fishing license here before your charter departure date.

 

Q. Do You Have AMENITIES On board?

A. Yes! Our charter is equipped with a fully enclosed washroom onboard.

Q. Can I keep the fish I catch?

A. Yes, but only if fishing regulation allows it. The captain will let you know what type of fish are available to catch before and during the fishing trip..

Q.Is there a minimum age requirement?

A. There are no age requirements however please let us know the age and approximate size of the minor prior to arriving at the dock to ensure we supply the appropriate sized life jackets and safety equipment. All minors must be accompanied by an adult and go through a short boat safety meeting with your charter guide captain.

Q. Will we see anything else while on the water?

A. Yes! Powell River not only has great fishing but amazing opportunities to experience other coastal marine wildlife. During your charter you may see sea lions, whales, porpoises and more.

Q. Will the guide drop crab or prawn traps??

A. Yes! Our 8 Hour charter trips offer the option to drop traps.

Q. What is included in the fishing charter?

A. Our charters include everything you need to fish including bait, ice, and life jackets.

Q. Can we fish for more than one species in a day?

A. Yes, If asked before hand it is possible for the captain to drop traps for crab and prawns. jigging for bottom fish such as lingcod and trolling along for salmon..

Q. Which type of salmon is best to fish for??

A. Chinook salmon is the best salmon to fish for in Powell River.
